For years I would use our Costco credit card and Alaska Airlines credit card to pay for all our bills. It was nice to get that fat check once a year from Costco, but you slowly rack up on miles with Alaska CC. To accumulated 200K travel points with Alaska, you have to pretty much spend $200K.

Plan your travel well in advance! 9-11 month out. Jump on an airlines travel partners website and looks for deals to transfer your points over to.

You could book on your Credit Card travel portal but the best value is transferring points to travel partners(Example – Marriott, Hilton, Air France).
