A Quick 3‑Day London Itinerary (2026): Spring Break Repositioning + Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Deal
Sometimes the best travel memories come from the unexpected detours — and that’s exactly how our 3‑day London stop happened during our 2026 spring break trip. We needed to fly home from Europe, found an unbelievable deal on Virgin Atlantic Upper Class for just 44,000 points + ~$700, and decided to reposition to London and fly home in style.
This wasn’t a tourist-heavy visit. It was a short, food‑focused, shopping‑focused London stay — the perfect way to wrap up a multi‑city Europe trip.
Here’s our full 3‑day London itinerary, exactly as we did it.
Day 1 — Travel Day: Porto → London + Borough Market + Carnaby Street
We left Porto early in the morning, heading to the airport around 6 AM to catch our 9 AM flight. After a smooth 2.5‑hour hop, we landed in London and checked into The Standard, our home base for the next couple nights.
Quick London Highlights
Even with limited time, we made the most of the afternoon and evening:
- Borough Market — perfect for a quick snack and a warm welcome back to London’s food scene.
- Regent Street shopping — my wife found a couple purses at Polène and Longchamp.
- Onitsuka Tiger — I stopped in to check out shoes and new releases.
- Mother Mash (Carnaby) — this place is a must. Comfort food, great portions, and one of our favorite casual meals in London.
- Nightcap at The Standard — we ended the night in the hotel’s Library Lounge, a cozy spot with great cocktails.
This day was all about settling in, eating well, and enjoying London’s shopping neighborhoods.

Day 2 — Tea at Sketch, Soho Shopping & Fish & Chips
This was our full London day — relaxed, fun, and focused on food + shopping rather than sightseeing.
Tea at Sketch

We started with afternoon tea at Sketch, one of London’s most iconic experiences. The whimsical rooms, the service, the presentation — always worth it.
Soho & Carnaby Street
We spent the afternoon wandering through Soho and Carnaby Street, checking out boutiques, grabbing small bites, and enjoying the spring weather.
Happy Hour at The Standard Rooftop
The rooftop bar at The Standard has great views and a fun vibe — perfect for a pre‑dinner drink.
Dinner: North Sea Fish
We wanted something local and classic, so we headed to North Sea Fish, a neighborhood spot known for its fish and chips. It felt authentic, local, and exactly what we were craving.
Day 3 — Departure Day + Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Lounge
Our final morning was simple and relaxing:
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Packed up and headed to the airport for our 11 AM flight from London → Seattle

The highlight of the day — and honestly the whole repositioning strategy — was experiencing the Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Lounge and flying home in Upper Class for only 44K points + ~$700.
The lounge delivered everything it’s known for:
- Great food
- Stylish design
- Relaxed seating
- Premium cocktails
- Smooth boarding experience
And the flight itself was the perfect ending to our spring break trip.
Why This Quick London Stop Was Worth It
Even though we weren’t doing major tourist attractions, this 3‑day London stop was perfect because:
- We repositioned to London for a top‑tier flight deal
- We enjoyed great food and easy shopping
- We stayed in a stylish hotel

- We flew home in comfort and style
Sometimes the best travel strategy is simply: Go where the best flight deal takes you.
