How to redeem

How to use your travel points

Transfer points to Airline Partners

Once you earn your travel points on Capital One Venture X, AMEX Gold, AMEX Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, one of the best ways to maximize the value of your points is to transfer your points to your credit card’s airlines transfer partners. Example is transferring your AMEX Member Reward points to Air France, Delta, All Nippon Airways(ANA), British Airways and more. Keep in mind there taxes and fees will vary.

Transfer points to Hotel Partners

Another way to redeem your travel points from your credit cards is to transfer them to a hotel partner. Some hotels you can transfer to are Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, and the partnership between credit cards and hotels chains vary. AMEX has Hilton and Marriot, Chase has Hyatt. The best value that we have seen are from Hyatt.

Book travel directly on credit card travel portal

Another way to redeem your travel points is to book directly on the Credit Cards Travel Portal. The Credit Card companies either out source the travel search engine with companies like Expedia and Hopper. Deals value is ok and some times even cheaper than booking directly on the Airlines or Hotel website. It is the only way to redeem your yearly travel credit from Chase Sapphire Reserve and Venture X. AMEX Travel portal is the only way to book a “Fine hotel resort(FHR)” or “The Hotel Collection(HC)”, Venture X has a similar line.

Make sure to at least get $1:1point value on any bookings made on the Credit card Travel portal. If you are on AMEX portal and you see a hotel for 75K Points, but only cost $500, this would not be a good use of your points. You would want at least 50K points for that $500 hotel (50K / 100) = $500
